The Zimmerman Note
http://wwi.lib.byu.edu/index.php/The_Zimmerman_Note
This note is sent by German official, Arthur Zimmerman, secretly proposing a German-Mexican alliance with "veiled promises of recovering Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona". Following the interception of this note Germany sank four unarmed American merchant vessels. This is a significant document because it is one of the main reasons why America joins World War One. Now, they are going against everything Washington warned them to stay away from. This note infuriated all Americans, and despite Wilsons effort to remain Neutral, it forced them to go to war. If they had done as the British with bearable harrassment they most likely would not have engaged in war, but they went straight to mass killing of innocent civilians and interferrring with their territory.

Treaty of Versailles
http://www.firstworldwar.com/source/versailles.htm
The Treaty of Versailles was created to resolve problems made by World War I. This treaty was created by victorious Allie leaders: United States, Britain, France. The Treaty of Versailles forcefully made Germany sign under: 1) complete disarmament of all German forces 2) war reparation of 33 billion US dollars 3) being the main cause of starting WWI 4) ineligibility to manufacture weapons. The treaty although composed of only four of the original points made by President Woodrow Wilson. The treaty completely punished Germany, but it did not stop the threat of future wars. The treaty ONLY maintained US' pre-war weak power structure.

Treaty to end all Warhttp://wwi.lib.byu.edu/index.php/Conventions_and_Treaties
This treaty was an ultra idealistic attempt at peace, and was signed by the USA and its allies, along with many others who were part of the new League of Nations. The treaty provided that all war was to be condemned by everyone and that all problems must be sorted out peacefully.

WWI
In this cartoon a Doctor is seen examining a British ship captain's sore throat and recommending that he gargle with salt water. The skipper replies that he has been gargling because he has already been torpedoed six times. The cartoon alludes to the success of the German u-boats in sinking British shipping. It portrays the British seamen as stoic in the face of danger.
